Description
The City of Grapevine has a carefully crafted image as a historic small Texas town. The design objective for the project was strengthening the existing character of Historic Downtown Grapevine, through a new facility that would add value and purpose for the needs of the city and its residents. The two story building contains 20,000 sf on each level supported by rear surface parking. The building has multiple functions including corporate office space, a retail visitor center and convention bureau and an exhibit museum. Special consideration was given to access, entry, service and security. The design places the building on the street strengthening the pedestrian experience. A variety of roof heights, detailing and brick colors were used to create the appearance of multiple structures in keeping with the town’s historic fabric. A clock tower was incorporated to identify the main entry and strengthen the street corner.
