Description

Rockville Metro Plaza complex, strategically located across from the Rockville Metro station and a critical component of the development of downtown Rockville, Maryland. When completed, the project will contain 620,000-sf of office space, including 24,000-sf of retail and parking for 1,700 vehicles.

The building is an elegant, modern expression of limestone textured precast concrete and lightly reflective grey glass. It is rectangular in form, with an arc cut out of the southeast corner. A semi-circular courtyard, featuring special paving and a fountain, will be completed with the addition of the Phase II office building located to the south along Rockville Pike. The street wall of the Pike is reinforced by patterned precast, which contrasts harmoniously with the curving curtain wall above.

The skyline atop the curtain wall is animated by a terrace at the top floor and a significant curved cornice feature. Below, the base is expressed as a two-story loggia of articulated precast concrete, and houses an expansive entry lobby, as well as street front retail and two discreetly positioned parking levels. Decorative art panels at second-story spandrels and custom-designed lighting lend a rich appeal to the colonnade. The building lobby is clad in cherry wood panels, with a floor pattern of natural stones, and amply day lighted by the bank of large street front windows
