Today, WDG is proud to announce that the firm is now women- and minority-owned. The moment is more than a change in ownership. It represents the continued evolution of a practice that has always understood that its future depends on the people who are given the opportunity to shape it.
WDG is currently pursuing women- and minority-owned business certifications in Washington, DC, with plans to pursue additional certifications in Maryland and Virginia. These certifications will expand opportunities to participate in public-sector procurement and supplier-diversity programs throughout the region, creating additional avenues for WDG to bring its architectural, planning and interior design expertise to projects that shape the places where people live, work and gather.
The transition reflects our belief that leadership is not about preserving a firm exactly as it was but building on that foundation and giving the next generation the freedom to determine where it goes next.
WDG was founded in Washington, DC, in 1938, and has seen generations of architects and designers bring new ideas, expertise and perspectives to the practice. New technologies have changed how we design and work. New building types and markets have expanded what WDG does and who it serves.
For WDG, this new ownership structure is an investment in the people who will lead the practice into its next chapter. It reflects confidence in their perspectives, their experience and their ability to build on nearly 90 years of collective knowledge and more importantly, it also creates new opportunities for WDG to serve the communities around us.
