The US Coast Guard Headquarters building in Washington, DC received a Distinguished Building Award by AIA Chicago. This is DC’s largest public works project since the Pentagon was constructed 72 years ago. The 1.2 million-sf headquarters building, situated on a steep embankment on the historic St. Elizabeth’s campus, has a primarily glass façade maximizing natural daylight and offering views of the Anacostia River. The project received LEED®-Gold certification, and offers landscaped courtyards, grounds and green roof features.
