Our Integrated Approach Promotes Collaboration And Grater Efficiencies
more

WDG is an emerging leader in the field of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD). Integrated Project Delivery is one of the most exciting trends in building design and construction today. This “whole-building” approach is a response to the increasing complexity of building systems and assemblies combined with the promise of interdisciplinary approaches to deliver cost-savings, improve building performance, and meet sustainability goals.

The approach requires architects, engineers, contractor, and owner to participate in a collaborative process extending beyond their traditional compartmentalized responsibilities; an ongoing dialogue from project launch to delivery. As practiced by WDG, Integrative Project Delivery revolves around two key fundamentals: an interdisciplinary project team structured around common goals and an inclusive system for sharing project information.

Building Information Modeling

Building Information modeling (BIM) supports the seamless integration of technical information through the use of a real-time, three-dimensional, virtual model that contains the sum of project data. These modeling technologies incorporate “smart objects” that allow for an usually high level of technical precision and quality control, while maximizing the performance of the building’s environmental systems.

Autodesk Revit Software

WDG uses Autodesk Revit software as its BIM solution. A Revit model can be easily exported into rendering software to create accurate and realistic photo-realistic renderings and animations. The very same model is also used to produce a coordinated set of construction documents using the program’s built-in tools. Since the virtual model maintains all of this information in the background, the team’s focus can be shifted from synchronizing documents to honing and perfecting the design. Additionally, unlike CADD-based software, a Revit model enables instant material take-offs and analyses.

The benefits of BIM do not end with construction. The virtual model can support the owner in assessing system operations, energy consumption, and with the maintenance of facilities.
