Description
WDG provided full design services for the new GWU Arlington Center. This project encompassed first floor retail space and the complete sixth floor tenant fit out for classrooms, professor offices, and a marketing department. We conducted program sessions with all staff members and worked closely with the Dean’s office and the University’s Facilities Group to finalize program requirements. Finishes and furniture schemes were developed based on branding strategies and a desire to attract young professionals to this location. Special features include a student lounge, classrooms, faculty lounge, modular lab, and computer lab.
Designed for multiple colleges, the space accommodates varied, diversified programs. The design team met with the key professors to determine function and equipment needs. We had a visioning session with the key members of the University to ensure that the George Washington image and the profile of the students was considered in design. The design team evaluated the existing furniture and equipment for relocation; we worked closely with the University’s furniture vendor and end users to ensure that all parts and pieces were appropriate and supported functional requirements. We also worked very closely with the University to trim project costs and maintain schedule for a non-negotiable opening date.
