As we step into 2026, we’re proud to reflect on an outstanding year of design, collaboration, and recognition. In 2025, ten WDG projects earned national, regional, and local industry awards: Atworth, Clarendon West, Kinetic + Momentum Midtown, Oakhouse Dallas, Peridot Residences, Springfield Community Business Center Commuter Parking Garage, Union on Knox, University of South Carolina Campus Village and Verve West Lafayette.

ATWORTH

AIA Potomac Valley Excellence in Design Awards: Award of Merit / Multi-family Architecture

Atworth is a 4.9-acre, transit-oriented mixed-use development comprising two 5-story residential buildings totaling approximately 465,000 sf. The project includes 431 residential units, ground-floor retail, structured parking, and extensive bike storage, with a concrete podium supporting wood-frame construction above. A diverse housing mix, ranging from studios to 3-bedroom units, along with townhomes and work/live lofts, is complemented by robust amenity spaces, landscaped courtyards, rooftop terraces, and an activated Village Green adjacent to the Metro station, reinforcing walkability and connectivity within the College Park-Riverdale Park Transit District.

CLARENDON WEST

AIA Northern Virginia Design Awards: Award of Merit / Commercial Architecture

Clarendon West is a multi-phase residential redevelopment in Arlington that redefines a prominent site between Rosslyn and Ballston corridors. Guided by the Clarendon Sector Plan, three architecturally cohesive buildings introduce new housing along major and secondary streets while respecting the surrounding neighborhood scale. Unified by varied brick masonry and articulated massing, the development features landscaped courtyards, activated streetscapes, and elevated amenities–including rooftop decks and pools–establishing a contemporary, LEED Gold-certified standard for residential living.

KINETIC + MOMENTUM MIDTOWN

Momentum - Multifamily Executive Awards: Award of Merit / Best Amenity

Kinetic - Multi-Housing News Excellence Awards: Bronze Award / Best Amenities

Kinetic stands as the student-focused component of the development, providing approximately 396,900 square feet of residential space with 740 beds. Designed to cater to the neighboring Georgia Institute of Technology, its massing features an iconic "sliding" bar effect on the western edge, creating a dynamic visual presence facing the campus. The building’s architectural character is defined by its interlocking natural gray and white bars, with a facade that employs diverse window treatments—ranging from two-story openings to staggered punch windows—to create visual variety without sacrificing structural clarity.

Momentum Midtown is a 37-story, 445,200-sf luxury multifamily tower in Atlanta's Midtown district, delivering 376 market-rate residences atop a shared podium with structured parking and extensive amenities. Designed as part of a twin-tower development, Momentum Midtown features indoor and outdoor amenity spaces, rooftop and terrace areas, and a welcoming ground-level plaza. Inspired by Midtown's cultural heritage and creative energy, the building integrates locally sourced materials and community-focused spaces to create a vibrant, contemporary living experience that reflects the spirit of "New Atlanta."

OAKHOUSE DALLAS

D CEO Commercial Real Estate Awards: Best New Multifamily Project

Oakhouse Dallas is a six-story, 219-unit mixed-income multifamily community in North Oak Cliff that blends essential and market-rate housing with high-quality design and amenities. Situated near downtown Dallas and the Bishop Arts District, the development features a significant percentage of units reserved for households earning up to 80% of the area median income, supporting workforce housing needs. Oakhouse includes amenities such as a sky lounge with downtown views, fitness and lounge spaces, and outdoor areas, creating a vibrant, connect urban residence.

PERIDOT RESIDENCES

Dallas Business Journal Best Real Estate Awards: Best Rehab or Reuse Project

Peridot Residences is a luxury adaptive reuse residential community within the iconic 50-story Santander Tower in Downtown Dallas, converting former office space into modern one- and two- bedroom apartments with high ceilings, large windows, and designer interiors. Anchored by a suite of resort-style amenities–including a pool deck, fitness and wellness space, pickleball court, dog park, lounges and access to the private Tower Club–the Peridot experience blends urban living with convenience. The project continues to expand with additional residential floors planned, creating a vibrant mixed-use destination alongside office, retail, and boutique hotel uses in the heart of the city.

SPRINGFIELD CBC COMMUTER PARKING GARAGE

James M. Scott Exceptional Design Awards: Honor Award

Springfield Community Business Center (CBC) Commuter Parking Garage is a six-level, approximately 1,050-space multimodal parking facility in Springfield, Virginia, designed to improve commuter access and connectivity within the Springfield Community Business Center. The project features a bus transit center with seven bus bays, dedicated slug-line and pick-up/drop-off areas, bicycle storage, EV charging, and a pedestrian/cyclist bridge linking the garage to Springfield Plaza. Community gathering spaces at ground level and on the rooftop green plaza further activate the site, enhancing transit options and supporting local mobility.

UNION ON KNOX

Student Housing Business Innovator Awards: Best New Development by a College, University or Institution, On-Campus

NAIOP DC|MD Awards of Excellence: Award of Merit

Union on Knox is a mixed-use residential project at the southeast edge of the University of Maryland, designed to serve as a new pedestrian gateway to campus. The development replaces an existing parking lot with a monumental stair, plaza, and enhanced pedestrian connections, while activating the street with ground-floor retail. The 359,000-sf building includes 340 residential units and a robust suite of indoor and outdoor amenities, with a stepped massing and contemporary masonry facade that responds to the surrounding campus and neighborhood context.

UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA, CAMPUS VILLAGE

Student Housing Business Innovator Awards: Best Implementation of Mixed-Use or Live/Learn, On-Campus

University of South Carolina Campus Village is an 18-acre mixed-use residential district organized around the Marion Street Promenade, the University's primary north-south pedestrian spine connecting the academic core to the athletic precinct. The Campus Village is anchored by a vibrant Village Square and includes a clock tower, dining commons, residence hall lobbies, fitness and academic spaces, and retail. The development features six 6-story residence halls–primarily suite-style with one community-style hall–and two 3-story apartment buildings. The architecture employs simple, contextual massing and a cohesive material palette of warm copper-toned masonry, off-white cast stone, and gray standing-seam metal roofing to reinforce campus identity while maintaining a human-scaled environment.

VERVE WEST LAFAYETTE

Student Housing Business Innovator Awards: Best Implementation of Mixed-Use or Live/Learn, Off-Campus

Verve West Lafayette is a seven-story, mixed-use student housing community located less than a quarter mile from Purdue University. The 235-unit, 751-bed development integrates residential living with street-level retail, a double-height lobby, and two private courtyards. Designed to read as two distinct yet connected buildings at a prominent corner, Verve combines dynamic architectural massing with robust indoor and outdoor amenities to create an active, campus-oriented living environment.
