Part of a 3.7 acre mixed-use development in Arlington's Ballston Corridor, the office building is 12 stories, and 350,000 square feet of Class-A office space.

A key contributor to a highly walkable mixed use assemblage of buildings, the office building at Arlington Gateway features entrances along both its east and west facing frontages, joined by a highly fitted through lobby. Reconciling multiple context driven geometries, this space echoes the layering methodology of the exterior design through a sophisticated mastery of a broad palette of materials, included limestone, granite, wood veneer, and stainless steel. Timeless in spirit, the Arlington Gateway Office Building has been the recipient of numerous design awards, including an award of excellence from the Northern Virginia Chapter of the AIA.

The west facade parallels the gentle curve of North Glebe. At its south end, the tower above terminates and its curved face transitions into a two level retail drum, yielding a distinctive presence facing the development’s primary vehicular entry point, directly opposite the Westin Hotel.

A punched opening precast expression rises to ten stories, exposing a custom designed glass and metal window wall at the top two levels. The latter expression runs full height at the project’s prime gateway corner along the major intersection of North Glebe Road and Fairfax Drive. Further underscoring this key orientation is a vertical fin from metro entry at grade to penthouse above, where it engages a deeply projecting horizontal cornice. Mediating between the vastly contrasting skins is a third layer composed of horizontal ribbon windows and highly articulated aluminum spandrels.
