Description

Eastbanc was selected by the DC Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development to develop two parcels, Squares 37 and 50, owned by the City. WDG Architecture is the Executive Architect and Architect of Record for both parcels. The West End Square 37 - known as Westlight- is a mixed-use development that includes a new West End Library, retail and luxury residential apartments and for-sale condominiums. The prominent West End neighborhood is adjacent to Georgetown, Dupont Circle and the National Mall.

The building’s unique design exhibits a uniform stepping structure that establishes the projected extension of each unit. From inside the building, this stepping enables most units to have corner windows that provide views down those same corridors from which the building is viewed from the neighborhood. The land and streetscape surrounding the square add individuality to the design of the project through focused attention on pedestrian circulation and placement of lush vegetation. Sophisticated amenities include a rooftop pool above the penthouse, a community room with exterior terraces, and an outside sculptural ramp used to access the roof. The project incorporates many sustainable design features including highly-efficient glass, interior solar shading, green roofs, and the latest wastewater management strategies. Westlight is committed to achieving LEED Gold certification.

WDG is Executive Architect in collaboration with Design Architect Ten Arquitectos.
